SAKAMOTO
Sakae Sakamoto, born in Japan, is a versatile designer with a passion for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. Currently based in Milan, Italy, she has dedicated her career to exploring the world of interior design and house planning, resulting in a series of notable achievements and innovative projects.
Sakae began her design education at the esteemed Kuwasawa Design School in Tokyo, where she graduated with a degree in Interior and House Design in 1985. During the years 1985 to 1990, she honed her skills as a shop interior designer, contributing her creativity to projects at Hachiyo Kogei Co. Ltd. and space live Co. Ltd. in Tokyo.
In 1990, Sakae embarked on her own path by establishing “Studio Spazio,” a platform that allowed her to showcase her expertise as a freelance shop interior designer. Over the years, she worked on a diverse range of projects, from restaurants to jewelry shops and beauty salons. Her ability to transform innovative concepts into practical and functional spaces became her trademark.
Seeking to expand her horizons, Sakae pursued a Master of Industrial Design degree from the renowned Domus Academy in Milan, which she successfully completed in 1994. Her time there enriched her understanding of design principles and provided exposure to different cultural influences.
Since 1995, Sakae has actively engaged in the realm of furniture artistry. Her hands-on approach involves crafting prototypes by hand, a testament to her dedication to the craft. Her works have been featured in various exhibitions and publications, showcasing her commitment to pushing creative boundaries.
In 1997, Sakae became a member of the ADI Association for Industrial Design in Milan, solidifying her standing in the design community. Her contributions have consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence and innovation.
In 2000, Sakae founded the “Studio Sakae Sakamoto Design,” a platform that has allowed her to further explore her creative ideas. Her journey continues to evolve, as she embraces new challenges and concepts with curiosity and innovation.
In 2004, Sakae Sakamoto participated in the “LOVE” exhibition at Spazio Casa, organized by the Vicenza Fair, held at gallery pad.A-D from Saturday, February 14th to Sunday, February 22nd. This event underscored her ability to convey emotions and concepts through her exceptional design and artistic talent.
Today, Sakae Sakamoto is engaged in an exciting new venture, “majosa,” a project focused on exploring the symbolism and beauty of four-leaf clovers. Through this endeavor, she continues to delve into innovative design concepts and breathe life into fresh ideas.
